BSPiR "ENERGOPROJEKT-KATOWICE SA" SA is implementing a project subsidized by the National Research and Development Center called DEsire.

The aim of the project is to develop a plan for decarbonization of the national energy sector through modernization with nuclear reactors of III/III+ and IV generations.

The progressive change in the nature of the Polish electricity system reinforces the need to develop a coherent structure to ensure its stability and security. The Decarbonization Plan will be developed through the implementation of seven research tasks and is intended to provide a roadmap for future coal-to-nuclear investment processes. The project foresees the establishment of a National Energy Transformation Cluster (KTE), which will provide an organizational base for activities related to the transformation process of the country's power plants and thermal power stations.

The project will be implemented by a consortium of five institutions: Silesian University of Technology, Ministry of Climate and Environment, Energoprojekt-Katowice SA, Institute of Chemistry and Nuclear Technology and Sobieski Institute Foundation. The project was funded within the 6th competition of the National Research and Development Center "Gospostrateg".
